Ideally, management tends to be more formal while leadership operates in both a formal and informal settings. However, despite the differences, both management and leadership require visionary thinkers that can enable an organization to achieve optimal success (Grohar-Murray, DiCroce & Langan, 2016). Moreover, a manager and a leader should have skills to address multiple priorities of an organization as well as conflict resolution abilities for positive relationship among team members.

In my practice as a nurse leader, I have a conviction that I can expand my influence by adhering to the moral codes of conduct of professional practice to inspire other team members. This entails taking a lead role in working as per the stipulated guidelines of nursing care to ensure that the subjects embrace the same (Kristensen et al., 2016). Taking advantage of the overlap between management and leadership also involves being an active listener to understand the plight of nurses and inspire them to cope with unavoidable challenges. The latter includes high-stress environments such as in the acute setting where prompt decision is crucial to save the lives of patients.
